Want to faciliate an inclusive art/farming class, workshop or open studio session?

Public Annex is regularly hiring contracted art facilitators for their art programming for 2017. We are looking for artists to lead classes and studio sessions in the following medias: jewelry, drawing, painting, ceramics, woodworking, performing arts, video, photography, fiber arts, weaving, book-making, zine-making and are open to proposals for other mediums not listed. In addition to these focused classes, we are looking for facilitators with a wide array of knowledge in various materials and processes to lead open studio session.

The contracted duration is an eleven-week term from January 23, 2017-March 31, 2017. Facilitators are expected to be prepared and present for each session that they are scheduled for during that duration (the specific dates and times will be outlined and agreed up in contract upon hire).  Contracts may be renewed for future terms if job performance is excellent.  Classes generally take place between 9am and 2pm, are 2-4 hours in length and vary on the number of times (one, two or three times a week) the classes are offered per week depending on the amount of interest in the class and the facilitator’s availability. Facilitators will be given a supply budget and will be responsible for purchasing materials for their classes.  Facilitators are expected to provide inspiration, demonstrations and encouragement while allowing for choice and independence to all participants.  All facilitators must pass a background check and are required to attend a three hour (paid) training session on January 15, 2017 from 1pm-4pm.  Pay is $15/hr. Experience working with adults who experience disabilities is a plus, but is not required.  We are looking for self-driven, passionate artists who want to share their skills and knowledge.  We are looking for facilitators who can create an atmosphere of creativity and flexibility, setting a direction and intention while allowing the participants creativity to drive the sessions.
